Breast Cancer Overview

One of the most common types of cancer when it comes to women is breast cancer. Many individuals do not realize it, but men may also suffer from this condition. While this disease is typically rare in men, it is important for everyone to understand that they are at risk. This is especially true when it comes to women. In this article, you will be introduced to this type of cancer, as well as the symptoms that are involved when it comes to breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Explained

Breast Cancer is the condition in which a growth occurs in the breasts that is considered to be abnormal. In women, the breasts go through changes each month due to the natural menstrual cycle. During a breast examination, a lump or knot may be felt in the breasts. While many of these are actually not harmful, there is a potential that some care cancerous. If a lump is found to be cancerous, it may “metastasize” to other tissue. This means that it can spread. The bloodstream and even the system that is known as the “lymphatic” one are the means in which these cells go from the breasts to other areas of the body. In some cases, the spread of this type of cancer may be relatively slow, while in other cases, the spread may be quite rapid.

The Symptoms of Cancer in the Breasts

Medical professionals have stated time and time again that in the early stages of this type of cancer, there may be absolutely no symptoms at all. However, as the cancer progresses, it is quite likely that the symptoms will become more and more evident. Listed here, I have detailed the symptoms that one may endure if cancer is present in one or both breasts:

1. An individual may start to notice that there is pain in the breast. This is often accompanied by the sensation of tenderness as well.

2. There may be discharge from one or both of the breasts. This discharge may be clear, slightly tainted yellow, or even appear to be bloody.

3. If the size of the breasts changes, this may be an indication of cancer. However, other changes may occur that are related to the contour and even the overall texture. In addition to this, if a breast feels exceptionally hot to the touch, there could be an underlying issue that is serious in nature.

4. There could be swelling in the breast, or even in the lymph node that is found under the arm. If you discover this type of situation, it is important to understand that this could be a sign that cancer is developing.

5. Many individuals may begin to experience itching, burning, and even physical ulcerations on the skin of the breasts.

Conclusion

There are many different type of breast cancer. In addition to this, there are a number of physical indicators that may reflect that cancer has started to develop. It is important that you learn exactly how to do a breast examination, and that you do it on a regular basis. Once to twice a month is typically appropriate. If you notice any of the symptoms that are associated with breast cancer, you should contact your doctor for an examination and physical immediately.
