Lung Cancer Symptoms

It is important to know and completely understand all that you can when it comes to lung cancer symptoms. Cancer of the lungs occurs when there is an issue with cells growing abnormally in the area of the lungs, and they are doing so in a manner that is completely out of control. It has been recently discovered that this particular type of cancer kills more people in the United States each year than any other type of cancer. Many individuals do not realize that this type of cancer can be prevented. If the symptoms are present, there is still hope. The sooner that you find out what to look for, you have a better opportunity of getting treatment. Here, you will learn about lung cancer symptoms.

While it is important to learn about the symptoms associated with this type of cancer, it is also important to know and understand that not all individuals have symptoms before they are officially diagnosed with this condition. If you suspect that you have a condition that affects the lungs, it is important to share your thoughts with a doctor. The following list details some of the symptoms that may be experienced:

1. One of the first signs that there may be a condition that is present in the lungs is a cough. This cough may be experienced by an individual that smokes, and even an individual that does not smoke.

2. In some cases, when a cough occurs, an individual may notice blood. This is referred to as “hemoptysis”. If you experience this – even if it is just a small amount of blood – you should consult with a doctor immediately.

3. Many people begin to develop a slight wheeze or even an irritated throat when lung cancer develops. These symptoms may indicate an abnormal area where abnormal cells have been growing. This may be in the area of the lung, or the tubing that extends down into the lungs.

4. If you notice that you are having problems breathing, this may also indicate a blockage in the lungs.

5. A number of people experience sicknesses that are directly related to the lungs. There are some who experience bronchitis on a regular basis, and even pneumonia. Infections can be chronic, or just come once and seem to disappear.

There are several different types of cancers that can occur in the area of the lungs. However, most all of these types lead a person to experience the symptoms that I have mentioned here. If you suspect that you have lung cancer, or have experienced any of the lung cancer symptoms mentioned in this article, it is important that you set up an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. They can run tests, and take samples to confirm a diagnosis.
